COVID-19 and Your Property Settlement

Melbourne Metro is in Stage 4 restrictions between Sunday 2 August 2020 to Monday 14 September 2020. What does this mean for your property settlement? Find out below.

Can my settlement still go ahead?

Yes. Your settlement will still go ahead as planned. As all Victorian settlements are conducted electronically, your settlement will still proceed as per the Contract terms.

Can I still move house and can family and friends assist me?

Yes you can still move house. You may have a family member or friend assist you IF support is required due to age, infirmity, disability or because of health. Everyone must abide by the Stage 4 curfew hours, practice social distancing where possible and wear required face coverings. Removalists are still permitted to work.

Can I complete my final inspection?

Yes you may conduct a final inspection but only for the purposes of settlement. You cannot conduct an inspection for the purpose of taking measurements for new window furnishings ect.

Are the banks still open?

Yes banks are still open however banking settlement teams within the banks are mostly working remotely from home. Keep in mind that finance applications are taking longer than usual due to banks having to adapt to new remote working procedures.

Where can I collect the keys from after settlement?

As the Real Estate Industry is also working remotely, please contact your agent to arrange the best method for dropping off and collecting keys pre and post settlement. Ensure to make these arrangements a week in advance.

Do I still need to attend Australia Post to conduct my Verification of Identity?

You may still attend Australia Post to conduct your Verification of Identity however we have a remote Verification of Identity option. If you would prefer the remote method, please contact us.
